Another Good Vacation Read

So every vacation I try and find a fun book to read. This vacation I got through Rob Lowes second book “Love Life.” I read his other book “Stories I Only Tell My Friends,” last year and it was also good. Rob Lowe is a great story teller and funny. I especially liked this book because he shared his experience with his eldest son leaving for college which was nice since my daughter is going to school in fall. I thought I would share with you all since I am always looking for fun, fast good reads. Start with his first one then do the second. Happy Saturday 🙂

Good Article in Time Magazine on SAT Changes and a College Guide Book

Having a senior in high school and just getting my oldest child into college I thought I would share this with you all. It raises many questions about the process of getting your child into college. Believe me it’s not an easy or cheap prospect and these testing companies are profiting from all of us. Plus this book rates colleges and tells you all the specifics about getting in, majors etc.

Let me know what you think if you have kids going through this now or in the near future. Click the link below to read the Time article.

Another Good Book by Kelly Corrigan

Just picked up Kelly Corrigan’s third book entitled “Glitter and Glue.” Loved her other books. Actually read “The Middle” while my own father was battling cancer so it was nice to have her wisdom from the book. I haven’t finished the book completely but I know I will by weekends end :). This is an awesome book about the relationship between mothers and daughters. I wanted to make sure I told you all so you could buy for valentines, Mother’s Day or for your daughters going off to college like mine.

I will tell you I cried reading the prologue but I am getting sappy in my old age. Get to buying it now. The link below is to amazon kindle version. Happy reading!

A Good Girlfriend Read

Happy New Year :). Cannot believe I actually made it through 2 books this holiday break. This is a fun read that my friend Susanna from London gave me last summer. Just reinforces the importance of friendship for women.

The second thing I wanted to share with you was this awesome inspirational site called http://www.upworthy. com. It will send you 3 video links of varying stories daily some inspirational some about issues. Just makes you think about how much we have compared to other developing countries. The fact that we can complain about healthcare when some don’t even have basic needs met. Very blessed 🙂

Sign up and take a look at the second video below. I am doing it for 2014. One picture each day with a caption on it about what I am grateful for. Now before you say you don’t have time for it this will take you two minutes on your smartphone. Download the app phonto (for iPhone) and load your picture with text. Done. By the end of the year you will have an Eco friendly picture book of gratitude. Take a look at the second video it’s about a women who did this last year.

Happy 2014!

A Good Read Over the Holidays-Love Does by Bob Goff

I know I have not talked much about books lately but I am reading five right now.  Yes FIVE no matter how slowly I am getting to them and hope to finish a couple over the break.

Love Does by Bob GoffThe one that I want to talk to you about today my nephew’s teacher gave him to read over the summer.  It’s a book by Bob Goff called “Love Does.”  Although I am not all the way finished the iPad says I have about a quarter of the book to go, I can still highly recommend it 🙂  It is the perfect book to read over the holidays.  Bob Goff takes everyday life and makes you see all the fun and good in it.  He is an amazing story-teller and this book crosses age, gender and religious barriers.  I am going to gift it to a few people this holiday so I thought I would share it with you all.  Here is a link to his site where you can get signed copies:

Hope someone gives it to you or you pick it up soon 🙂  Have a joyous, love filled holiday!
